WALDORF INSPIRED HANDWORK APPRENTICESHIP COURSE

Greetings! I warmly invite you to join me on a year-long journey to unlock the magic and method of the Waldorf Handwork Program.

I completed the Waldorf Applied Arts Training at Fibre Craft Studio in the beautiful Orchard House, Chestnut Ridge in New York in 2007.  The 3 Fold Intentional Community and Sunbridge College are both located there.  It is a beautiful model of how living in a Waldorf community can look.  The Pfeiffer Centre and the Green Meadow Waldorf School are also onsite.   I loved going to Orchard House to do my Handwork Teacher Training, though it took 4 years and multiple trips to NYC to complete the course, it remains one of the highlights of my education years on my Waldorf Teacher journey.

I taught Handwork in many different Waldorf schools from 2001-2021 and have been approached many times to share the skills I learned there and the knowledge, but I didn’t really have the time then.  I do now, and I have a beautiful location to host the workshops from too.  There is room for 10 apprenticeships and onsite lodgings as well, included in the program. This will be a year-round course with week-long and weekend options for in-person study.

You will get to dive into the hands-on immersion of each medium, the process and the pedagogy behind these skills.  You will also get the chance to study alongside the other apprentices the ancestral knowledge that goes deep into each of the skills.

I was so lucky to have the amazing Renate Hillier and Tjiske Lehman as my teachers and to study alongside Nicole Nicola who now maintains the Applied Arts Program at the Fibre Craft Studio.  I hope to see you out here near Mt Baker, Washington. Enrolment is ongoing through the year.

ATTENDANCE AND ACTIVITIES

Alongside the practical workings of each day, we will be studying several books to support your own path of inquiry.  A reading list will be sent out to all participants.

The evening sessions will include study, storytelling and personal inward time set aside for reflection and journaling.
Overnight guests will have the opportunity to register for use of the overnight guest spaces.  All participants may sign up for a meal plan option or bring your own food to prepare.

Between the in-person meetings there will be small projects and writing activities to complete before the next module can be unlocked. Completion of each module will be required to move on to the next in-person or online meeting.

The flow of the year-long class will circle back around so wherever you are on your journey, you can pick up the other classes missed on the return trip.  COURSE OUTLINE AVAILABLE UPON REQUEST AFTER INTAKE INTERVIEW
